EWDD Rapid Response Team Job Loss Assistance Resources, Programs and Services


Have you been laid off or furloughed, or had your hours been reduced recently? The EWDD Rapid Response Team is here to help you through this transition process by providing virtual orientations that will guide you through all available resources, including how to apply for Unemployment Insurance (UI) through CA EDD and health insurance.

If your business faces furloughs, layoffs, or reduced hours for your employees, the Rapid Response team wants to help. Business Transition Services will help guide you through all the available options and how to protect your employees.


Wildfire Recovery Orientations


The City of LA’s Rapid Response Team is offering free employment transition services to assist Angelenos impacted by the recent wildfires. During the orientation, you’ll learn more about job opportunities, unemployment benefits, health care, training and other services.

There will be daily weekday orientations at 10am and 6pm (PST) in both English and Spanish. There will be a 10am (PST) session on Saturdays. As this remains a fluid situation, this schedule is set for the next two weeks and is subject to change depending on need. Register for a session below:




General Virtual Orientations


The free virtual orientations are led by EWDD’s Rapid Response Team, which is trained to support employees and businesses through any transition process. The team will demonstrate the Unemployment Insurance Benefits process and other resources that support transitioning into a job as quickly as possible.

After registration, you will receive a phone number and access code to a virtual conference room. Prior to your training, please download the Job Resources Presentation to help you follow along with the virtual orientation.

All services are FREE and are mandated by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) legislation. EWDD’s Rapid Response Team will continue working with individual companies to set up sessions specifically for them/their employees. These orientations are geared for anyone whose job was impacted by COVID-19 or otherwise was recently laid off.
