On April 10th, the Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD), in collaboration with Councilmember Tim McOsker’s Office, the Harbor Occupational Center, and the Harbor, Southeast, West, and Watts WorkSource Centers, successfully hosted the Harbor Regional Connect LA Job Fair. This impactful event brought together job seekers and employers across multiple industries, fostering connections that drive workforce development and economic growth in the region.
With participation from over 30 companies spanning diverse sectors—including education, construction, healthcare, non-profit, government, public safety/law enforcement, security, and transportation/logistics—the fair provided attendees with an expansive selection of career opportunities. Employers were eager to engage with candidates, offering insights into open positions, industry expectations, and professional pathways.
Throughout the event, job seekers had the opportunity to meet recruiters, submit resumés, and explore career prospects tailored to their skills and aspirations. Additionally, attendees connected with vital community resources designed to support both professional development and overall well-being. The event drew an impressive turnout of 350 job seekers, reinforcing the demand for accessible, high-quality employment opportunities. Many employers praised the caliber of candidates and expressed enthusiasm about the meaningful conversations and potential hires resulting from the fair.
The Connect LA Job Fairs serve as a cornerstone initiative in Los Angeles, designed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers at both the local and national levels. These events provide attendees with a platform to network, discover career opportunities, receive guidance on applications and resumés, and gain valuable insights into various industries. Held citywide on a quarterly basis, Connect LA Job Fairs continue to play a pivotal role in enhancing employment accessibility and workforce readiness.
